"Clove in the shape of a nail
The clove tree originally grows on the Moluccas. To this day, about two-thirds of all cloves are harvested in Indonesia.
Harvesting and drying cloves
Harvesting the cloves is a huge task. Someone climbs into the tree and manually picks all the, not yet opened, buds. On the ground, the harvest is sorted even better and then the buds are spread out and dried in the tropical sun.
Healthy properties of cloves
Cloves are packed with antioxidants, iron, magnesium, zinc and vitamins: C, B12, K and E. Cloves are used to improve digestion, fight infections and make the bones stronger.
Use of Cloves
Cloves both whole and ground have a warm winter taste and therefore fit very well in spicy hot drinks like mulled wine, Turkish coffee and winter tea. Clove powder can be used in various baked goods, also the taste of clove is a good addition to apples, carrots, onions, oranges, red cabbage, potatoes and pumpkin."
